By the chamber choir of Riga Orthodox Church BLAGOVEST on April 21, at 15.00, at concert hall AVE SOL
The public concerts of Russian Sacred Hymns are a unique phenomenon of Orthodox Church. This tradition was established by Aleksey Lvov who was an outstanding Russian composer, musician and director of chapel choir from Saint Petersburg in 19th century. His aim was to open the Sacred Orthodox Hymns of the Great Lents for the secular audience.
Chants of the Great Lent are particularly beautiful – they are devoted to contemplative, dramatically saturated sense of music that makes oneself to think of suffering, betrayal, sin and repentance and find in all this the absolution, compassion and peace.
With the performance that reveals the solemnity and entirety of the Russian Sacred Hymns, this spiritual tradition is carried on by a distinguished Latvian choir – a laureate of international competitions, the chamber choir of Riga Orthodox Church BLAGOVEST under the leadership of Aleksandrs Brandavs.
Concert is lead by Irina Vinnika.
Entrance fee 1 LVL. Tickets will be available an hour before concert at the venue.
