August 18 and August 19 from 12:00 to 18:00 at the Town Hall Square from the Hanseatic League presentation tents will be open. This year the guests will be Riga, Rostock, Tallinn, Tartu and Kaunas, Vitebsk, Veliky Novgorod, Kingisepp, Valmiera, Koknese, Straupe, Ventspils and Limbazi. At the guest delegation presentation tents visitors will be able to further explore the Hanseatic cities, to observe and evaluate the best craftsmen work.

 

 

 

 

RIGA TOWN HALL SQUARE, the stage programme on August 18 from 12:00 to 23:00:

 

 

 

• Early Music Ensemble "William Byrd Consort" by Andris Veismanis will offer music from three Hanseatic cities - Riga, Konigsberg and Danzig. The Ensamble will perform the 16th and 17th century compositions by the composers Bucenus, Krusius, Eccarda, Stobeus and others.

 

• Liv, Latgale and Vidzeme songs and dances will be performed by Latvian etno groups and Kristine Purina Karkle

 

• Mimes will demonstrate the medieval mystery of "St.Maurice miracles"

 

• Puppet Theater will entertain with a show of "Casanova"

 

• Liepaja traveling circus will demonstrate the medieval circus performance

 

• Viewers will enjoy a musical group "Skutelnieki" of Koknese, magician Juris Garvrilovs, Ventspils ethnographic ensemble of women, folk group "Slavjanskij Dvor" from Veliky Novgorod, trombone quartet from Hamburg, early music performers Siegfried Weber and Janina Kovica from Rostock, folkmusician Kuno Malva from Tartu, folk groups from Vitebsk and Kingisepp

 

• Diverse color palette of improvisation and travel in cultural history - from the Latvian ethnographic tradition to the 17th century. Guests will be able to enjoy stylized court dance music by Ugis Prauliņs and Ivars Cinkuss in their joint musical composition "Opera Ficta"

 

 

Among the performances on the stage throughout the day there will be demonstrations of medieval arms, knight costumes and martial skills.

• The famous Latvian opera soloists will sing the old opera arias

 

• Puppet Theater will entertain with a show of "Casanova"

 

• Liepaja traveling circus will demonstrate the medieval circus performance

 

• Riga amateur choirs, dancers, soloists and orchestra trio will invite to watch and listen to the vocal-instrumental praise ODE TO RIGA (a premier). The poems by the 16th century poet Basil Plinius are arranewgd in musical pieces by composer Imants Mezaraups

 

• The audience will be entertained by the Symphonic Band "Lemisele" from Limbaži, a dance group from Israel, the folk group "Slavjanskij Dvor" from Veliky Novgorod, a dance group from Straupe, a folk musician Kuno Malva from Tartu, Early Music performers Siegfried Weber and Janina Kovica from Rostock, trombone quartet from Hamburg, the chorus of Tallinn, the music group "Hansanova" from Kaunas

SQUARE AT THE ST. PETER'S CHURCH

August 18 from 12:00 to 23:00 and August 19 from 12:00 to 21:00

In the square next to the St. Peter's Church there will be an authentic medieval market with craftsmens from Latvia, Belarus, Poland, Estonia. This will be not only a trade place, but also a place for ancient crafts, medieval costumes, weapons demonstrations, as well as a place for story telling about the domestic habits of medieval Riga. An activity area for children will also be open.

 

 

 

 

DOME SQUARE for one day only - August 18 from 10:00 to 22:00

150 Latvian craftsmen and merchants will help visitors to feel the Riga's ancient atmosphere by offering the inhabitants of Riga and guests their products and crafts, as well as demonstrating the ancient craft skills.

 

 

 

 

 

Old Town Hanseatic Market will end with a fiery show of percussion performance group PULSE EFFECT.
