On August 16, at 21.00 on the Square by the Monument of Freedom
For the first time on a square by the Monument of Freedom an open-air opera music concert will be held. Such locally and worldwide famous artists as soloists Liene Kinča, Evija Martinsone and Egils Siliņš as well as the Riga “Ave Sol” Chamber Choir, the Latvian National Opera Choir and the Festival Orchestra will be performing there. Andris Veismanis will be the concert’s artistic director and conductor. There are musical pieces from the pages of Latvian Theatre history and the most prominent compositions by more or less famous composers included in the concert program. The musical core of program will spin around pieces that used to fill Duke’s court in Courland and some opera fragments by Richard Wagner. The colourful interplay of stage design, lighting and music is going to be a true enjoyment for all listeners. And thus festivities may begin!
